SUMMARY:ITC Level 2 Award in Food Hygiene in the Outdoors
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to offer the course being facilitated by Maxine from Peritia Training. This ITC course will be delivered over 1 day and is ideal for all those who are working with groups in the outdoors who wish to become occupationally competent in teaching and facilitating food preparation in cooking in an outdoor environment. \nThe qualification is intended to provide the learner with an understanding of the benefits of Outdoor Food Hygiene\, \nThe qualification specifically\, roles and responsibilities\, how to prepare\, cook\, and manage others preparing and cooking food within the outdoor environment using approved principles and practices. \nIt is suitable for all who wish to become occupationally competent; need permissions or have an interest in teaching\, and facilitating food preparation and cooking within the outdoor environment. \nTopics include:\n– The principles of food safety and of food hygiene\n– Understand food contamination and controls in the outdoors\n– Know how to store ingredients and cook food safely outdoors\n– Special diets\, dietary allergens\, consideration when preparing and cooking food \nThe learning and assessment is a mix of theory and practical.  Assessment is by completion of a paper portfolio and also by observation of practical skills. \nApplicable to a wide range of outdoor cooking environments form camp kitchens to individual/group expedition/bushcraft/ activity camps/ corporate events. \nThere are 7 hours guided learning\, 8 hours total qualification time. Successful completion of the award will be awarded an ITC Level 2 Award in Food Hygiene for the Outdoors \nThe course runs from 9am to 5pm and during this time the participants will learn the 4C’s of food hygiene in the outdoor environment: cleaning\, cooking\, chilling and cross-contamination prevention. Please arrive by 8.45 as there is a short walk from car park to woods. Finishing in woods at 5pm.

SUMMARY:Forest School First Aid with Paediatric Certificate
DESCRIPTION:22nd and 23rd May 2025 \nThis 16 hour\, course is ideal for all those who are working with anyone aged 12 months to adult in the outdoors.\nThe requirements for Forest School first aid can be met by completing an ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid.\nThe differences between the 2 courses are that the Forest School First Aid is delivered with a contextualised approach to content – all being Forest School. However\, we have discovered that most Forest School Practitioners are happy to be on mixed courses with paddling coaches\, snowboarding instructors\, walking leaders\, and other outdoor professionals. Ultimately all the first aid is the same! \nDURATION: \n2 days/ 16 hours combined training and assessment \nPRE-REQUISITES: \nNone required \nDETAILS: \nThe Awarding Organisation\, ITC First\, has a well established relationship with Andy Forsyth and ‘Archimedes Training’ who have designed and developed this Forest Schools First Aid course. \nThe course content and context is totally integrated with the Forest School ethos and rationale. This qualification is a must for all Level 3 Practitioners and those supporting Level 3 Practitioners. This course is also suitable for those leading Outdoor learning sessions in school grounds\, country parks\, nature reserves and other outdoor learning environments. \nOur course takes place in a rural setting with plenty of opportunities to practice first aid scenarios in the outdoors. Assessment is continuous and certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment\, there is no final examination. Those who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years. The certificate entitles the candidate to be a First Aider for 3 years from date of issue. \nThis course also covers the content of the Level 3 Paediatric First Aid 12 hour course and candidates will also receive a certificate for this on successful completion. \nSESSION TOPICS: \nThe 16 hour course consists of 2 units: \nUnit 1: Forest School Emergency Action \nUnit 2: Forest School Incident Management \nOn completion of the full 16 hours of training\, successful candidates should be able to: \n\nUnderstand the role and responsibilities of the forest school first aider.\nBe able to assess an emergency situation safely.\nBe able to provide first aid for a child or adult who is unresponsive and breathing normally.\nBe able to monitor the vital signs of an unresponsive casualty.\nBe able to provide first aid for a child or adult who is unresponsive and not breathing normally.\nBe able to provide first aid for a child or adult who has a foreign body airway obstruction.\nBe able to provide first aid to a child or adult with external bleeding.\nUnderstand how to provide first aid to a child or adult who is suffering from shock.\nUnderstand how to provide first aid to a child or adult with Anaphylaxis.\nBe able to administer first aid to a child or adult with injuries to bones\, joints and muscles.\nBe able to provide first aid to a child or adult with head and spinal injuries.\nUnderstand how to administer first aid to a child or adult with conditions affecting the eyes\, ears and nose.\nUnderstand how to administer emergency first aid to a child or adult with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness.\nUnderstand how to administer first aid to a child or adult who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold.\nUnderstand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds.\nUnderstand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned.\nUnderstand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has been bitten or stung.\nUnderstand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with minor injuries.\nUnderstand how gain and use casualty history to help with administering first aid.\nUnderstand how to complete records relating to illnesses\, injuries and emergencies.\nBe able to provide the above first aid in an outdoor context taking account of\, and protecting casualties from\, environmental conditions.\n\n

DESCRIPTION:The two day British Canoeing Stand Up Paddleboard Sheltered Water Training is an ideal award for anyone wanting a formal and regulated qualification coaching SUP in a sheltered water environment\, introducing fundamental skills up to 200 metres from the bank and up to force 3 winds. \nYou will coach paddle-boarders in the sheltered water environment. This will include coaching beginners new to the sport\, or paddlers looking to develop their skills as well as tactics. \nDURATION: \nRun over 2 days the Discipline Specific Training focuses on HOW to coach the WHAT (discipline specific skills) and WHERE you will be coaching. The training explores how to coach technical and tactical skills. DESCRIPTION:The Paddlesport Coach builds on the foundation coaching skills learnt at Paddlesport Instructor. The award is relevant to potential coaches from all paddlesport disciplines including coaches who may work with competitive and recreational paddlers\, it is available as bank- and boat-based options. \nDURATION: \n1 day Assessment after a period of consolidation \nPRE-REQUISITES: \nPrior to your Coach Award Assessment you are required to have completed a number of prerequisites. \nSpecific details (and acceptable alternatives) are provided in the Coach Award Course Guide.
